The History of Hallmark RV
Hubert Monroe Ward, Hallmark RV’s founder, acquired engineering skills during World War II while testing and building PT boats on Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana.
After serving his tour of duty on the West Virginia and Tulsa as a Chief Engineer, and being injured in Pearl Harbor, Hubert returned to Corpus Christi Texas where he designed his first RV, the Tortuga.

The Tortuga towable trailer was made available to customers in 1958 and enjoyed moderate success.
In 1960 Hubert, wife Carla, and his two sons, William and Robert, moved from Texas to Lyons Colorado where Hubert went to work as a designer for Red Dale Manufacturing.
Looking to venture out on his own, Hubert eventually took his camper designs and skills and formed a partnership with a man named Robert Hawkins. Using the last names Ward and Hawkins, Warhawk Manufacturing was established.
Warhawk Manufacturing did very well until the untimely passing of Mr. Hawkins son in Vietnam. After the death of his son, Mr. Hawkins slowly moved away from Warhawk and the RV industry. Needing a new location and a new partner, Hubert moved to Boulder, Colorado.
Hubert’s new partner, Carl Fetig helped create Aspen Manufacturing, which became known for, “fully equipped, quality constructed, and beautifully appointed” campers, trailers, and motor homes. In 1967, Carl Fetig bought Hubert out of Aspen Manufacturing.
Hubert soon realized his two sons were interested in the RV industry so, in 1969, Hubert started his very own company with assistance from his oldest son William. Carla Ward designed the new logo and name and, in 1969, “Hallmark Luxury Campers” was established.
Through the years, various family members joined Hallmark and helped to make it the success it is today. Many long time employees and dedicated family members including William Monroe Ward, his nephew Randy Wass, and William’s two sons, remain with the company to this day and are very excited to bring you new products like our composite constructed pop-up campers.
